Membranas cerámicas de bajo coste para el tratamiento de aguas residuales

Abstract

El principal objetivo de este trabajo es determinar el efecto que ejercen sobre las propiedades de las membranas de bajo coste las características del material generador de poros (en el presente trabajo, almidón o chamota porosa sintetizada ex profeso) y las variables del proceso de síntesis (conformado por prensado o extrusión, temperatura de sinterización, tiempo de permanencia a máxima temperatura, etc.,). De este modo, las composiciones de las membranas se basan en materias primas económicas, empleadas habitualmente en el sector de fabricación de baldosas cerámicas, tales como arcillas, feldespatos, caolines, etc., evaluándose las propiedades de las membranas obtenidas con dichas materias primas. Finalmente, también se ha analizado la idoneidad de diferentes métodos de caracterización de las propiedades de las membranas cerámicas de bajo coste, especialmente la determinación del tamaño de poro y la permeabilidad.

The main objective of this work is to determine the effect of the pore former material (in the present work, starch or expressly synthesized porous chamotte) on the properties of the low-cost membranes and the variables of the synthesis process (shaping by pressing or extrusion, sintering temperature, residence time at maximum temperature, etc.). Thus, the compositions of the membranes are based on low-cost raw materials commonly used in the ceramic tile manufacturing sector, such as clays, feldspars, kaolin, etc., and the properties of the membranes obtained with those raw materials have been evaluated. Finally, it has also been analysed the suitability of different methods to characterize the properties of the low-cost ceramic membranes, especially the determination of pore size and permeability.
